iTap Tricks
While in iTAP text entry mode, if you want to enter a series of numbers quickly, hold down the button of the first number you want to enter until it enters the number. If you look at the top left, you'll see it'l indicate that its in a number entry mode, while still in iTAP mode. Continue typing in all the numbers, when done, hit space, or center button to quick switch back to standard iTAP mode.
MP3 Ringtone Tips
Some may find that the phone won't let them set any mp3 as a ringtone. The problem is this, Cingular/AT&T has for some reason set a file size limit for ringtones. The maximum size a ringtone can be is 600kB. Anything larger than that, the phone won't let you use it as a ringtone. This means you are pretty much going to have make your own ringtones from songs via cropping and compressing. After experimenting, i've found the best mp3 settings to be 64kbps, 44.1khz, mono, here is an example. Ringtones sound great with this setting, one key thing i found is that a mono file will sound better than the original stereo version, primarily because the phone only has one speaker to play music from :).
So in reality, the 600kB limit doesn't really limit your choice of ringtones at all. It just creates an inconvenience since you can't select just any full song, however IMO the beginning of most songs doesn't make for good ringtone material anyways, its best to just choose a great part of the song. You can use software like Mp3Ringtone Gold to make ringtones, then transfer it to your phone via bluetooth or USB cable.
Rumor has it that AT&T has since lowered the maximum file size limit to 300kB on the new RAZR2 V9. Now, this does piss me off, because this is a form of crippling. However, this should not prevent you at all from making great sounding MP3 ringtones. By default, an AT&T phone will ring for approx. 20 seconds, so you need not make a ringtone longer than that, as it will be a waste. As you can see from my example, it is 35 seconds long, sounds great, and is only 280kB in size ;)
Change your ring time
Thanks to Modred, this will change the amount of time your phone rings, before Voicemail picks up.
The following will give you your voicemail number and voicemail delay in seconds:
*#61# [send]
To change the voicemail delay, enter the following:
**61*[vmn]*11*[vmd]# [send]
where [vmn] is your voice mail number and [vmd] is the desired voice mail delay in seconds.
After entering the above correctly, you will get the folllowing message:
